May they all win!

First note: sorry I haven’t written anything here for weeks, but my life outside cyberspace’s walls has dragged me away from the keyboard and mouse. But here we go again!

One thing that has kept me away from my computer, is something as silly as the TV! I never watch TV, but then suddenly, on a pretty darn windy boring day I had nothing else to do – I grabbed the remote.. and tuned in on X-Factor! Yes, those kinds of talent shows (very much like American Idol, Canadian Idol..ect) have also reached Denmark. And I’ve never been interested in it, but I must say it was good that I tuned in.. I was stunned! Those artists are incredible! How could any of them deserve not to win?

And I was terrified (and disappointed) when my favourite – a guy called Frederik – was voted out of that show. Maybe he wasn’t the best singer in the world, but I’ve never seen anyone be so true to himself, and so much in love with music! He literally came from the street with his guitar, and sung himself into everyones hearts. If you’ve got the time for it, why not listen to him singing “My love is your love”:

I have an other favourite, Laura, who also have a wonderful voice – I really got goose bumps when she sang “License to kill”.. and funnily enough, that is also on youtube!

What makes me most happy, is to see there are still great talents out there, ready to be discovered. I hope some “big guys” out there in music business watch this show, and take these young artists under their wings.

Finally – just to mention three favourites (three is a lucky number isn’t it?) – is a young girl Heidi, with the voice of an angel.. Even though they are all great, she is the one I hope wins – she picks incredibly difficult notes and transitions, and and she just nails every note! she’s right here singing “Whispering at the top of my Lungs!”

Good luck to all, you are really great!

Kathy tagged me on this one several months ago, and now I’m finally in the mood for talking about myself 😆

  1. Link to the person that tagged you and post the rules on your blog.
  2. Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself (on your blog, we all want to know them).
  3. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post and include links to their blogs.
  4. Let each person know that they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

I’ll have to break the rules here, because I don’t know of 7 bloggers, but when I get to know them, I promise to send this one to them 😆

These are seven random facts about me:

1. I grew up far away from everything – yep, I’m a country bumpkin – but it was a wonderful childhood in Denmark. I had the world’s biggest playground just outside the door, and I did spend much of my childhood climbing trees, playing around, building things.. and I felt really old, or “grown up” that day I was allowed to hand an axe and chop firewood.

2. My hair was white and very thin until I was 3 years old, then it changed.. and from the age of 5, it turned darker and darker.. now I have thick, dark brown hair. I hope I have my grandmother’s (father’s mother) type of hair – she’s 69 and still have dark hair.

3. I started to teach myself English, before we had English lessons in school in 3rd grade – I loved listening to music, and I was annoyed that I didn’t understand the lyrics, so I sat there with my mother’s dictionary trying to understand different lyrics. Lyrics I remember translating, is songs like Supertramp’s “the Logical Song”, and also some Michael Jackson lyrics.

4. I’m not good at jumping or running.. my body is just not built for those kinds of activities. But I am very strong, thinking about my gender – I often beat men in hand wrestling, and I rarely ask for help when moving heavy things. I’m good at hiking, and I can keep walking for hours without getting tired… good for me, because I simply love hiking/walking.

5. I only have one phobia – and that is arachnophobia. And that is in spite of that I come from a country, where spiders are harmless. I don’t know what I should to do in countries, inhabited by venomous spiders! Yuk.. I’ll panic..

6. A weird fact: I can scratch my ears with my feet 🙄

7. I have many goals in life, but one of them is to learn at least 10 languages before I leave this world – Right now I’m fluent in: Danish, English, Faroese, I want to improve my Swedish, Norweigan and German, and I want to learn Spanish, French, Icelandic and Italian. If I happen to learn these languages while I’m still young, I’ll just add some more languages to my “languages to learn”-list 😉

Somehow I’m glad I’m in Denmark these days. There was a storm in the Faroes yesterday, that was the worst for a very long time. The Faroese people say the worst storm they remember, was back in 1988, but that one yesterday was even worse. Houses were destroyed.. which says everything, because Faroese houses are built to stand hurricanes.. waves had lifted boats out of harbours and tossed them around, huge parts of the country had no electricity (including our house for 14 hours).. and to make it even worse, this was a snow storm. My boyfriend said he couldn’t find his car! That is very, very unusual for the Faroe Islands… they know of “snow”, but not that much. Guess this was a test of what the Faroe Islands would look like, if the warm Gulf Stream changed.

But one thing annoyed me.. the wind speeds wasn’t unusual for a Faroese winter storm. The wind speeds were at 60 m/s or 135 mph, and we’ve seen that before, without lifting an eyebrow. But my boyfriend said, “well, this has something to do with what corner of the world the wind comes from…added all the snow of course”. So if this had been a typical west-wind-storm, it wouldn’t had caused so much damage.

The good thing about all this mess… now we can talk about weather for a looong time 😆 King of all topics!
